Hamster Face

This is grandson Ewan showing me his hamster face- it may or not be convincing.

Hamsters figure hugely in Ewan's family at the moment. Two months ago, they acquired Ruby a feisty, spirited hamster with one red eye and one black one. However, two nights before they went off to Italy on a skiing holiday last month, Ruby made her escape through a hole in the skirting of the kitchen floor and decided not to come back.
While they were away, a neighbour went in to check for her return and leave some food out for her, but there was no luck.

When the family returned home and still no sight of Ruby, they went eventually to the local pet store to buy another one. There the assistant told them that some students who had found a hamster in their stairwell had been in to buy food and a house for it as they wanted to keep it. Enquiries were made and the hamster found turned out to be Ruby. They will never know how she made her way to the adjoining stairwell but are happy to let the students keep her as she is now in possession of a hamster palace and a room of her own.
Bagel is the new hamster, a bit stupid and with much less character than Ruby, but not likely to have a Houdini moment.

If you are still with me after this saga, let me share with you the journey 3 year old Ewan and my daughter made this morning from Dennistoun as told to me with much excitement while he clutched his precious train ticket. Because the trains were late at Bellgrove they went on a bus to Glasgow Queen Street where they got the Edinburgh train which stopped at Falkirk High. They didn't ride on a tram.

What is it with some little boys that fascinates them about anything with wheels. I think Ewan's first word was 'train'.
