A Bit of Sun on a Mad Day
What. Strange day. It's a long time since anything has gone majorly wrong with the organisation of the education department, but today broke the record!
3 members of staff in at 9 and down at Ticket Office to meet the school by 9:45. Freezing cold for them, very windy and when the school still had not arrived at 10:30 they called me. I was supposed to be at a photo session in the castle at 11am and a member of the team had just walked through the door wanting my time. My head twirled and I forgot to make the call to the school for a further ten minutes. Eventually, after hanging on for a long long time listening to electronic music, the office receptionist came back to tell me the school would not be coming because they were booked for next week. I assured her the visit was today, directed her to all the confirmation emails and waited again while she sought advice. She was sorry there had been a mistake, could they come next week instead?!!! We are totally full for March, so NO!
I have to confess to a tiny niggle, could this be our mistake? But no, we had the paperwork right back to the initial telephone query with the requested date clearly down as the 2nd.
By the time I got to the castle, it was 11:20. I was most unimpressed to find that the others (photographer, curator, marketing staff) had been and gone by 9:30, they had omitted to include me in the amending email! I turned at the gatehouse and took the photo, at least there were no visitors at the door to spoil the view!
