The Fundraiser

I was cycling around Sefton Park, on my way to the allotment , with my camera in my bag, thinking "not another picture of leeks" , when I noticed a cyclist going in the opposite direction towing a miniature super yellow lamb banana on a trailer. After a moment's hesitation, I turned around and gave chase. It was Joe Faragh, Granby Street activist- he who had hung the Celtic birds banner in Granby Street in commemoration of the centenary of the Easter Rising. Joe and his wife have been actively campaigning to save and improve the few remaining terrace streets off Granby and were instrumental in starting the Granby market. He now works part time with SHAP - finding accommodation for homeless single people in St Helens. And he raises funds for charities. He is now preparing to ride to Flanders to raise funds for 3 local charities. One was set up to assist young people with autism by the parents of a boy who had been a "mascot" at Everton football club, and had been tragically killed when chasing his football across the street.
