Where the River meets the Sea

By rights this Benchmark should have been the last, but it isn't - quite! It should have been last, because this is the point where the River Eden , which we have been following in these sculptures, flows out into the sea at the Solway.

This is: Global Warming.
It is by the river at Rockcliffe, a village just a few miles north of Carlisle. I managed in this picture to get the river just at the point where it meets the sea and the red sandstone cliffs that gave the village its name.

The sculpture itself seems to take its message from the situation, where the river meets the wider world of the sea. Today we have a negative view of the term 'global warming', but here the sculptor was apparently alluding to a more positive idea of the world being held carefully in a nurturing, life enhancing glow. Anyway it makes a good seat or several seats.
