The Time is Now...For the Cow

I made a promise,
I made a vow.
Before the week was over,
I'd be shootin a cow.

Stayed away from the ocean,
stayed away from the reef.
I was out in the country,
on the lookout for beef.

I went to an orange grove,
that also sells wine.
But I wasn't inside,
I was out wooing bovine.

I was watching my footsteps,
didn't step in no dung. (Double negative.)
And it's always a bonus...
to get some cow tongue.

I did have one wake-up call. I was leaning over the top of the fence to shoot a cow with horns, when a cow reached through the fence and grabbed onto my shirt sleeve...and pulled. Pulled me right into the barbed wire. I thought one of two things was going to happen. 1. I thought I would lose a hunk of shirt. 2. I thought the wire would draw blood.

But, I said..."Hey...hey...hey," and the cow let go.

I was very relieved...
to save my sleeve.
