FREEDOM

the banana is a symbol of freedom for east berlin. when the berlin wall came down, west berliners were waiting on the oberbrucke bridge with bananas for the east berliners when they spilled out of their confines. you just couldn't get bananas on the east side.

this banana, however, symbolizes something else entirely.
there's a particular art critic, thomas baumgartel, who deems art galleries worthy of visiting (i think) with his signature spray-painted banana.

i found one today and loved it.. though i do not love bananas. in fact, i hate them.
