Over Yonder

My Dear Fellow,

I'm a bit flat today. Like someone has let the air out of me, or tapped on my barometer to find I'm in the doldrums. Airsed-ind equals 'N' as Bokhara Burnes used to say.

So I decided to kick myself up the you-know and go for a walk after work in search of today's picture. On the theory that it would get me out of myself.

I started out taking pictures of landmarks like The Hub and The Tron but then it turned into looking for things that were landmarks for me, like that cafe Biblos on Chambers Street where I tried unsuccessfully to chat up a Christian, The Witchery where me and Er Indoors went for our Valentine's Day dinner (and took Feefs) and Sandy Bells, where Er Indoors and me appeared on American telly. Then there was Whistle Binkies where I remember being amazed at George The Postman's capacity to fall asleep, and of course Pizza Paradise where...

Well, I don't need to finish the Pizza Paradise story really. We know where it is going; to an older, sadder, wiser me trying to get red wine barf out of a rug.

(I also remember that was the night I was so drunk I did the vacuuming and applied for an Open University course during a blackout and then thought, "What sort of a boring effing drunk am I???")

So you came this close to getting a picture of "Piemaker" today. However, fortunately for you I also happened across this sunset while waiting for the number 29 bus. Perhaps it doesn't have such vivid associations for me, but it's probably a great deal more savoury for the public at large.

El P.
