iPhone screen

Today I was doing some testing of our freezer alarm system at w ork, and to document the tests, I was taking photos of my iPhone screen to show the messages sent to and received from the alarm system.  One or two of the shots showed patterns like the one in this picture.  I suppose the pattern must be something to do with the interaction of light with the liquid crystals in the display.
