Visit

This weekend wasn't all bad.  My brother and SIL, Andy and Tammy, drove down from Reno, Nevada for a brief visit.

Of my three brothers (and SILs), I'm closest to them.  Andy is less than a year younger than me so for one week every year we are the same age.  It's been a special, fun thing between us our entire lives.  He's also a self-taught, excellent photographer, specializing in landscapes.  Unfortunately, his camera recently died.

I brought my Canon 7D Mark II to mom's because he was dying to see it. He is most fascinated by the rapidity and number of shots which can be taken on continuous shooting.  So he kept holding the camera up and pretending it was a machine gun (eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh), spraying "shots" across the room.  I laughed so hard I cried.  I finally told him the SD card was empty so he could actually press the shutter release to experience the real thing.  Honestly, he was acting like a kid in a candy store.

Tammy is great.  She likes to talk politics but can't in front of her husband because it upsets him so much he leaves the room.  So, when we went out to eat, she rode with me (mom with Andy) so we could commiserate about the state of things.

I missed a portion of their visit because I'm now volunteering on Sunday afternoons at the public library as the "expert" (?) assistant in the computer lab.  Their visit, and my hours in the lab, were just the tonic I needed after the way the weekend had begun.  Now, on to what I hope will be a much better week.
