Primroses, genus Primula,

Meaning 'First Rose.'  The sacred flower of Freya the Norse Goddess of love. The five petals represent birth, initiation, consummation, repose  and death. A rare one with six petals is said to bring luck in love and marriage. From the days of early medicine to modern herbal remedies the flower is used to relieve the symptoms of many illnesses. If you  keep chickens and see a single primrose, you must dance around it three times to avert ill omens !!  This lovely tub full of primroses was from my son and family who visited yesterday. They will go on my balcony.
