Always inconstant...

A little whimsy

A Master Wizard spied along his path a fool. The most impressive Wizard in his gown of wonder and power thought to himself "I shall give this fool a vision of the Universe that will make him weep for the joy of it all!" and strode across to the fool.

The fool was perplexed and was staring at the ground simply, the Grand Mage smiled to himself at this poor simple fool, he would bestow a great gift upon him. Raising his arms and breathing out the incantations of power he sprung forth into the air wondrous shapes and colours, images of far off lands and planets that only he had ever seen. The fool stared at the worlds floating in diaphanous form in the air above him, his mouth wide in awe and horror. What nightmares were these? What confusion came with the visions, not wonder...but fear.

The powerful Mystic continued with his work, arms and mind swirling, bringing incredulous things to bare down upon the fool, pleased at the dumbfounded and aghast look upon the simpletons face. "haha, surely I will make this poor fools day with such a gift!" he whispered to himself. After such a display that Kings would be privileged to see, he stopped, the fool had fallen to his knees, stunned by the power and dismay. The Wizard patted him on his head and turned on his heel disturbing the dusty ground into little puffs of cloud. He strode off very much pleased at his benevolence.

The fool in utter dismay gazed at the ground for some time, breathing hard. Why had the Mage attacked him with his magic? He was quite lost for an explanation. Lifting his head to stare after the Wizard in his fine cloak of stars and symbols, he saw where the powerful man had turned, in his footprint lay the coin he had dropped earlier and could not see!

"haha!" he shouted "I see it! I see it at last!!" scooping it up he ran off to the market. As he passed the Wizard he screamed his thanks, the Wizard smiled and nodded.

Both men happy, both men ignorant, both men fools, both men wise....such are we simpletons all!
