Athletics day at Liam's School

It was the athletics day at Liam's school, which as I have said before, is in the grounds of a unused psychiatric hospital which in its heyday was the size of a suburb. The grounds are full of buildings that are reminiscent of days where there would have been 100s if not 1000s of employees working there. They are all in a state of disrepair (excepting Liam's school and the NSW Medical Council). There is a large oval, named Bedlam Bay, where patients arrived by boat and were then transported by tunnels to the wards. I took a photo of a folly-like building but as I got closer it turned out to be a disused toilet. It's rather sad in parts as one gets the feeling many people would have spent years in these buildings under less than perfect conditions. There are some elegant sandstone buildings but it's the signs around the place that fascinate me. On a very exciting note, Stephen Solomon, who was in the 400m final at the Olympics was a guest at the athletics day. What a great sport!
