Standing Out
I think these rocks are granite that have been eroded by water and wind. They are on the beach where the estuary empties out into the sea. There were families enjoying the shallow water of the estuary but once again there was lots of empty space.
One of the big advantages of this camp ground was the opportunity to have a camp fire. The forester of course had no trouble finding dead branches to burn. We shared our fire with a Canadian couple who are travelling in a camper for 7 weeks. They had been in the North Island and were just starting on the South Island. The husband was a forester - what are the chances? Two families with young children were a delight. From first light to dark those boys were on the go. The forester was very popular when he gave them some thin sticks he had crafted for toasting marshmallows with. He also gave them marshmallows.
