Carnaval parade

Roughly said the southern part of Holland is Catholic and the northern part is protestant. So it's mostly in the south that people celebrate Carnaval. Indulge in drink and festivities for some days up until Wednesday. On Wednesday the 40 day fast will begin. Or at least, that is how it was. I doubt there are many catholics left that do the fasting.

Today I was in a town called Lent, part of Nijmegen. These few days Lent has another name : kikkergat (froghole). My brother lives here. Together we watched the local Carnaval parade.
