Barnard Castle.
A day of for a "run out" with my brother. First we went to Eggleston Hall where we had a very pleasant wander round the garden. Bro found a plant he wanted and then we had a good lunch in the cafe.
After leaving the Hall we headed into Barnard Castle which neither of us could ever remember visiting before. as we entered the town this view presented itself. I thought it would make a good blip. As we were heading home we found a place to park and wandered out on to the bridge where I took this panorama.
The castle itself was built by Bernard de Balliol in the late 12th century and the town is named after him. The castle stands high above the River Tees and is a place I want to visit with more time. The Castle was later owned by Richard 111 but fell into disrepair after his death.
