Ruskin's View, Kirkby Longsdale

Good journey up to Cumbria, stopping for lunch in Kirkby Longsdale at the Lunedale Bakery as has become the habit.

Needed a stroll after the large jacket potato, cheese and copious quantities of ham with salad so we took the shirt amble to Ruskin's View by the Church. A spectacular view even though the sun had by this time disappeared. The churchyard here is very interesting too, deliberately managed as wildlife haven covered in snowdrops with daffodils poking their heads through.

Called in at Asda in Kendel to refuel and drove on to Harrison Stickle in Bowness where we are staying for the third time. Quickly unloaded and went for a walk down to the Ferry and back through the woodlands beyond the rugby club where we were fortunate to hear tawny owls hooting in the dusk.

The last act was to visit Booths to buy the week's supplies which included some Herdwick lamb chops.
