Weeds on a Post
Well the forecast for our area today was for rain by 11 o'clock and that is what we got. A few drops before then, but the main event started spot on time and is still going!
It is recognised that certain plants and animals can foretell the weather by their actions. For example, clover and tulips will fold their petals away before it rains and seaweed will swell up ahead of wet weather.
This morning while I was out for my run I noticed a weed growing out of a fence post not far from the bay. While its not unusual to see moss and ferns growing just about anywhere on the damp West Coast of Scotland, I cannot remember ever seeing a large weed growing out of a post. Anyway, decided it would make a slightly different blip and also liked the textures in the old post.
And can the fresh looking weed in the post tell us anything about the weather. Yes, it been a pretty wet Summer and no doubt there will be more rain to come!!
