Back blip; A woodland path in The New Forest
This was a favoured place of the Saxon and Norman kings; were stands The Rufus Stone a memorial to King William the Second who was accidentally killed by Walter Tyrrell when an arrow glanced off a tree during a hunting expedition, and it was the main source of timber for the 18th and 19th century wooden ships-of-the-line similar to HMS Victory.
