Rottnest Channel swim............2017

We were up and out at stupid o'clock this morning to watch the beginning of the 2017 Rotto swim. It was a perfect morning for the swimmers with an easterly breeze and a predicted high of 40deg!!  The first solo swimmers left at 5:45am, followed by duos and teams (of 4). The first team was over in 4 hours and 18 seconds!! First solo in 4 hours 21 minutes and first duo 4 hours 5 minutes. amazing!! Such brave souls, especially with all the sharks we have been sighting lately!
The three masted barquentine is the STS Leeuwin, moored at the 1500metre mark. You can see Rottnest island in the distance. Only 17.9 kilometres to go peoples!!
