Full circle
And so now we are back where we began and are standing once more outside the church of the Assumption in Central Glossa. In Greek this is called Koimisis Theotokou where Theotokou means Mother-of-God and koimisis is derived from the verb to sleep and is where we get the word cemetery from.
Today Tony's funeral is being held in Manchester so he too has come full circle and has been returned to the dust and ashes from whence he came. The people of Glossa have come together at the same time as the service in Manchester to wish Tony a safe journey (!) It smacks a bit of Live Aid which I am sure Tony would appreciate.
Papa Alekos at the church of the Assumption cannot hold a service for Tony today because today is the eve of St Reg and so he is otherwise occupied, but he can say a few words on Sunday which will be carnival and I am sure Tony would approve of that as well.
So it's coffee and cognac at this place instead.
