Sanctuary/Deportation Press Conference

Today at a press conference held at Augustana Lutheran Church, a sanctuary church (one among a growing number of churches joining the movement to protect the vulnerable), speakers representing targeted groups asked for help, for support, for refuge. In this photo the speaker is Imam Mohammad Najieb, of the Muslim Center of NE Portland. He said, “We need to raise our voices in a way that means something. We need to say we will not stand for what is going on.” 
Rev. D. LeRoy Haynes, Albina Ministerial Alliance spoke. "We have to ask ourselves whom do we serve? There is a moral principle here, a common thread that unites all of us. We choose to stand for freedom, justice, and equality.”

   I feel that the moral compass of our government has gone askew.
