500 Years

..... anniversary of the 'Schäfflertanz' - the dance of the barrel makers. 
When, in 1517, the black death raged again and again in the Munich and many people lost their lives, a Schäffler (barrel maker), whose name was not known, decided to put an end to the mental suffering of the still living inhabitants and to cheer them with a dance. Others followed .....and the rest is history...... :-))


(and these days they 'tour' around Munich to a lot of places and perform their traditional dance. That is normally only performed every 7 years..... this year is an exception because of the anniversary......... if you want to have a look at them at other times you have to rely on the 'Glockenspiel' at the city hall.....)
