Not a murmuration

When I went to my car to come home tonight, there was a racket coming from the sky, mostly herring gulls but also some rooks and pigeons. There were far more birds in the air than usual - I wondered if someone had organised a falcon to scare them off.  The sight was nothing at all like the magical swirling of starlings in a murmuration.
