Heather Moor
On his run last night Tony spotted the moor looking particularly fine in its heather coat so I took off up there this afternoon to see if I could blip it. On the way up I bumped into our neighbour who has a smallholding at the end of the street and he told me how the moor had transformed in his lifetime. There was little woodland when he first put his pigs on the moor. In our time in the village, which is 30+ years we have noted the growth of the trees, particularly the fast growing silver birch and ash. You can see some of the self-seeding going on here. It is great to have such a resource on our doorstep, particularly as it is also mapped for orienteering - the one event we can walk to!
