Oachkatzl

Before I explain the title, a word of warning to my fellow UK citizens:

150 years ago the UK allowed in a US resident with a bushy hair/fur piece, who went on to cause chaos and the near extinction of the local population. So when "he" drives up the Mall in the Golden Coach later this year, make sure the St James Park and Green Park red squirrels are safely locked away.

Oachkatzl (Oak Cat) is the Bavarian for the German word Eichhörnchen or in English, Eurasian red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris). The other members of the squirrel family do not have the honour of such a noble name - they are simply Hörnchen or more likely in Bavaria, Baamrotzn or tree rat.

Now you may, from the colour of the Bliped specimen, ask if it is a red squirrel. Yes, it is and clearly shown by the ear feathering. And as for the colour, the UK has for some unknown reason, very red coloured versions whereas the ones here vary from black to red, much like the differing human hair colour, although I don't think "Trump blonde" is often seen amongst our animal population!

Nutkin was spotted on our Schickling dog walk this morning. He clambered up a small tree right next to us and was no more than 3 meters up. Luckily the dogs didn't see him as squirrels are their favourite (and very annoying) animals to chase.

Nice walk out in the open on probably the last day before the storms come and we will need to seek shelter in the forest.

Watched a good old friend making a speech in a place with red leather benches this evening, concerning Brexit. A once keen EU supporter he voted for Brexit in the Referendum but in his speech, I could not detect why. I hope one day to find out and will write to him soon. Found the speech a bit difficult to follow but there was nothing I would take issue with. Of course the UK (or at least England) will survive outside the EU, after all, there are over 160 other countries not in the EU who seem to get by. However I have never seen a satisfactory answer to the reasoning "The UK will get out of the restrictions of the EU and be free to make it's own trade deals". How is it that Germany, one of the world's largest exporters, is in the EU? Why do they not seem to feel "restricted" and manage to export to the USA, China, India, Brazil, Canada.....?

Business and countries will be successful if they produce products to a price and quality people want, regardless.
