The Merchant City

I was walking through the Merchant City today and couldn't help but be stuck by the beauty and opulence of the place. The streets are wide and the buildings sure are grand.

Most folk are surprised that this area of town is in the "east" and not in the much fancier "west end." In fact, the grandeur of the west end was started here and by the tobacco lords no less. 

So the men from the east headed west!

Of course the truth and the tragedy is that the whole fucking lot of it was built on the backs of poor slaves the world over :(
