Storm Doris hits Chester

I had to go to Chester today - if I'd had a choice I wouldn't have chosen to travel in Storm Doris and her strong winds. The gusts were very strong as I drove over the high bridges crossing the Ceiriog and Dee.

Rain and high winds meant that Chester was quieter than I've ever seen it and people were well buffeted as they walked around. Chairs outside a coffee shop were blown over and they were quickly moved inside. Bins and signs were blown over too.

The police cordoned off part of Foregate Street in the city centre, I would assume that they were worried about masonry falling from the old buildings. That's my blip.

I had a very slow drive back as the A5 was closed due to an overturned vehicle and very long queues crawled back slowly through Chirk.
