The final goodbye
Hilda's funeral today. It was unexpected, but lovely, to have 50 people at the service and the Salvation Army Hall was full. Only thirteen were actual family - the rest were members of the Salvation Army, friends and neighbours from the village, her very good friend from Orpington, and a group of staff and volunteers from Soham Lodge where she was so well loved and cared for in her final year.
The end of an era, the final member of my Mum's generation. Now my cousins, brother sister and myself are the 'older' generation of our family - that's frightening!
The extra pic shows, from L to R, my sister Barbara, me, and my cousins Peter, David, Sheila and Ian.
