Day of the perch

Grey, mild weather and quite a bit of extra water in the leat. Looks like the fish are getting in as much feeding as they can prior to spawning in the next couple of months, some 30 fish landed or at least jangling on the line for a moment (the 'long distance release'...).

Unusually the perch equalled the chub in numbers, and size with this fish of maybe 1lb being one of the biggest. The reflective eye gives it a particularly freaky look - the best I could do on the rubbish phone camera...
