Retro Photography

Sometimes it's necessary to go retro, not so much to enjoy re-experiencing the past, but to be properly grateful for the present.

It's not often you meet someone using a British-made camera! This Ross Ensign was made just before I was born. It was the state of its art at the time, but sadly the company was slow to adapt to the 35mm revolution and disappeared in the face of imports from Germany and Japan. I had a picture taken of myself, all done without anything automatic whatsoever. I even had to wind the film on myself because Paul here had lost the use of his fingers in the cold wind! With just 8 frames to play with, this is slow photography at its most extreme. I don't think you'll be seeing me going retro anytime soon.
