End of summer walk

Last time I walked here at Bolton Abbey it was a glorious morning but with snow on the hills back in April. Bolton Abbey in Spring.

Today was beautiful too and as the meteorological last day of summer there was more than just a hint of Autumn chill in the air with a very heavy dew.

There were 12 of us walking from Barden Tower to the Cavendish Pavillion and v
back past the Strid. On the return route there was a Sports trail which was enjoyed by 8 year old Alfie though the synchronised swimmers in the river were looking a bit overwhelmed by the height of the fast running water. Here

The big attraction to everybody is at the culmination of the walk when we go for a cream tea (yes at 11.00am!)

Here is Buster, one of the three dogs walking with us, looking as though butter wouldn't melt in his mouth above the beautiful backdrop of the Abbey below. (He had been a bit naughty but he did have a big audience!)

Lovely day - thanks to all involved
