It's an ill wind

When the wind is in the east,
'Tis neither good for man nor beast;
When the wind is in the north,
The skilful fisher goes not forth;
When the wind is in the south,
It blows the bait in the fishes' mouth;
When the wind is in the west,
Then 'tis at the very best

Last night the wind was roaring around the house, but by lunchtime today, it had dropped and now the sun is shining. However...tomorrow has been named "Doris Day" as the Met Office forecast that the fourth storm of this winter will bring gales, heavy rain and in some areas, heavy snow.

So it's winter as usual in South of Scotland, then?
