Rain Day #3
We've learned that mid-February isn't an optimal time to visit Sonoma County, California...
That said, we've had pleasurable experiences on our three rainy days here, as well as on our mostly sunny Saturday. Today (Monday) was our last full day here, and it was also a holiday -- Presidents' Day, celebrating the birthdays of past noted presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I have no doubt that they would be appalled at the huckster currently holding that title...
But I digress. Our Blipfoto friend Wildwood wanted us to try her favorite coffee drink at the Flying Goat Coffee Shop, Aztek Mochas, so we met her, her husband Oilman, and their son Matt there about 11 a.m. The warming qualities of an Aztek Mocha were very welcome indeed on this distinctly cool, exceedingly wet day! We'd hoped to move our party on to the Russian River brewpub, but the lines there were out the door, so we said goodbyes via text, and look forward to seeing Wildwod again before too long.
Phil and I then spent several delightful hours in the Charles M. Schulz Museum in Santa Rosa. Schulz was, as many of you know, the creator of the Peanuts comics -- Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus, Snoopy the beagle, and other characters. The museum holds the largest collection of the original comic strips, Schulz's re-created studio, animated specials, art classes and workshops, and more. I grew up with his whimsical cartoons, and it was a treat to learn more about this prolific artist. What a great way to fill a very rainy afternoon!
We'll be back in Bellingham on Tuesday evening, where the weather is colder, as well as wet, which means there may be some snow this week... but despite that, I'm looking forward to typing on a keyboard again, adding links, and catching up with your journals! Thanks so much for all the birthday good wishes, stars, and hearts over the past few days, Blip friends!
