Above And Beyond...

Caerphilly Town Hall

Prior to our Australia trip I bought a new suitcase which baggage handlers broke the handle on the very first flight; So we took it back to the shop in Bridgend and they were good enough to allow me to upgrade it. On travelling home we stopped off in Caerphilly town centre so Mrs BB could collect some pre-ordered books, which gave me the opportunity to take some local photographs.

The main blipfoto is of Caerphilly Town Council building called 'The Twyn' as it was oroginally Twyn Methodist Chapel built in 1791. It'd had a few uses since then but is now used by the council as a community hall.

The extra is of The Boars Head Hotel opposite. It is now known as Caerphilly Municipal Club and in the 1970's was the towns most popular pub.The Boar's Head is a 19th Century hostelry which was used for Penny Readings, where recitations and popular songs were performed.  It is now a listed building.
