An ordinary life....

Horsing Around...

Backblip

Today was quite a momentous day, in a quiet, unassuming way.

You see today was the first day in at least 11 years where David and I left the house together in the morning before Alan was awake, and didn't return till late evening (midnight) when he was back in bed.

Because Alan won't eat proper food for other people, until now one of us has always had to stay at home to give him breakfast/lunch and be back in time to give him his dinner.  Now he has his tummy peg and double calorie milk, he's not reliant on us to be here all the time.

So when David, Kenny and friend Alan arranged to play golf at the Royal Burgess in Edinburgh, us wives went along and joined them for lunch at the clubhouse (a rather tasty goat's cheese salad) before heading off on our own adventure in the afternoon.

We ended up at the Restoration Yard where we had an enjoyable wander looking at all the lovely goodies in the shop.  The place once was the stables for Dalkeith Palace.  I laughed when I saw the changing rooms and the horse at the end :-))

Of course we had to stop for coffee then back to Gails where we met up with the men and Gail cooked us a delicious roast dinner.

We got home just as the clock struck midnight to be told Alan had a great day and had gone to bed happy.

I am sure he enjoyed his independence too and I feel more relaxed about the two nights we are going away in March with our friends Agnes and Adrian.
