All over the map

Left London today for Newcastle, but not before catching a great exhibition of 20th-century maps at the British Library. The highlight? A dress made of silk maps, which used to be sewn into airmen's jackets to help them escape if they ditched.

I'm staying, for the first time ever, in a railway hotel. Straight off the train and into reception. It's glorious! Though a little faded in its glory.
