28 doors - Ewloe Castle
Ewloe Castle is a motte-and-bailey type, and was one of the last castles to be built by the Princes of Wales, before being abandoned at the beginning of the invasion of Wales by Edward I in 1277. It's a classic ruin with lots of steps leading to fallen towers and remains of grand halls etc - it's surrounded by woodland (see extra pic) and so gets a lot of vandalism and graffiti - saying that it's popular with families at the weekends and dog walkers - though a first time for me and Toffi. We will return!
The doorway is at the bottom of the steps leading up to one of the towers.
