A miniature world
The sunny and mild start to the day tempted me to go to Rippingale to do some botanical recording. But shortly after I arrived the clouds gathered and a chilly wind developed. This didn't deter me, and I had a productive couple of hours wandering round the village, adding many plant new records for the area. I particularly liked the churchyard, which was full of primroses and will look a real picture in a few more weeks. The gravestones were also very rich in mosses and lichens - I estimate that there are at least ten species growing on this one small section!
