Doyle in her Macintosh nest. I am sorry to say this is not a happy picture. After her checkup and clean bill of health at the vet yesterday she basically would not come round, falling over, can't lift her head... we thought maybe a reaction to the pain shot yesterday (only supposed to last 8 hours) so we took her back to the vet. After a full blood panel and crucially thanks to some photographs hubby had taken of her last night which gave a giveaway clue because of her body positionings the vet was able to deduce what to look for: she has hypokalemia. They have no idea why this has happened, her kidneys are healthy, she's not been unwell... the only thing they could think of is that's it's been low for a while and she just coincidentally hit that critical point. It's surreal.
She was given subcutaneous electrolytes and potassium and we've brought her home for observation.
