Not been sleeping great the last couple of nights - which gives unexpected opportunities for 3am moon shots.

A long-standing friend of ours is in intensive care. I went to the funeral of a colleague (in the sense of another B&B owner) today. What should have been a simple decorating job this week exposed a sizeable area of dry rot to deal with, taking the room out for another month. 'A' is needing extra support at the moment. The buy-to-let property we're looking at has a number of concerns which the vendor isn't helping with much. And so on.

However, our plumber came over at short notice and installed the new dishwasher in the cottage; our decorator neighbour put two coats of white over the orange ceiling and charged thruppence; fixing the rot issues consequently solves a couple of other things; there are other more-interesting-looking properties out there; the funeral service was perhaps the best I have ever attended; and we've gamer friends coming over tonight to share a meal and stretch some grey cells.

Life's still good.
