Herdwick Tup
A lovely varied walk, with meadow, fell and woodland, around lesser known parts of the Lake District. The aim was discover a couple of local tarns, Bigland and the tarn that forms part of Back Reddings Allotment which appears, according to the OS map, to have no name even though it was the larger of the two tarns. There were some lovely views particularly from Bigland Heights across the estuary towards Arnside. Saw plenty of farm animals. Cows are never very welcome particularly those that hang around the gates. However, the highlight was this magnificent herdwick tup who very dutifully posed for photos. A close-up with tongue sticking out is in extras.
