Blip Birth

Wow, wow and a third WOW.....!
At first glance I thought 'that's a bit of luck two grasshoppers at the same time'. However all was not as usual because when I knelt down they didn't hide - something was definitely going on!
I was astonished to see the birth of her first egg and it was deposited on the blade of grass! She moved back to protect it as I obviously was an unwelcome midwife but it was compulsory viewing as she dropped her head, her abdomen started pulsing and another came out which is what this shot shows. The male at her head all the while came round to see the result and then back to his duties at the other end. He did get a bit exuberant and she bashed him with her hind leg. (The birth was starting to get a bit human at this stage!) Then another came out - three in all! She turned to admire her new eggs with him - it was really very touching. Not as quick as you would imagine either.

Got to say it was an awe-inspiring moment; very thrilling to watch and capture - another first for me because of blip! Have been smiling all day!!
