At last!!!
It must be a couple of months since I bought this plant. It was in the supermarket and was rather dry and neglected, I took pity on it and brought it home. To be fair it looked full of promise, lots of buds and plenty of leaves. Nothing developed, the buds have remained tight and I thought it was going to simply remain as it was. Surprise, surprise, this morning a lovely flower, just one, had opened and the scent is fabulous. I believe it is a gardenia.
That's as good as it gets today. Spent a busy morning doing housework etc etc. Decided it was time I got on with making the meringues I am 'signed up' to take to the village hall on Sunday. Two dozen very uneven but perfectly crisp meringues came out of the oven - relief! Scones will have to be made on the day.
After the morning's heavy rain it was good to see the sun out this afternoon. Took Bracken round the fields and admired the Jersey cows (who very nearly got Blipped) and noted the corn still in the fields. I thought it would have been harvested by now, any day I imagine.
This evening I intend reading the play again accompanied by a large glass of wine.
