First sighting

First sighting of the Berghotel on Faulhorn where we were staying. You can see it on the top of that peak if you look very very hard.

This was after 3 hours walking and we had another two to go. We arrived just as the storm hit and tucked into soup and rösti.

There is no running water, let alone hot water, at the hotel (except for one loo shared between all the guests), just a jug of cold water and a bowl in your room. This comes from a small lake about 100m below which is used to catch snow melt. I quickly discovered that splashing your face in cold water and putting on clean clothes is almost as refreshing as a shower.

Well, not quite, but it felt pretty good. And the food tasted excellent, of course. They even had wine flown in by helicopter since no land vehicles can reach the hotel. We chose the Swiss wine to compensate for those air miles!
