The Fly

We watched the David Cronenberg version of the sci-fi movie "The Fly" over the weekend.
It is the story of a brilliant scientist who invents a teleportation device that goes awry when he teleports himself and a housefly at the same time.
Oops, he is now a "Chimera" of a Man and a Fly with, as you might imagine, a much altered life path.
I was intrigued by the first evidence of the terrible transformation in the brilliant scientist is gnarly black bristles appearing on his shoulder.
I did not recall flies having such bristles on their bodies.
Today, while retrieving something under my car, I discovered a large house fly that was quite chilled and sheltering from the rain.
On close examination, lo and behold, he has gnarly black bristles on his back!  
It's the stuff of nightmares!!
