Thursday: The Hedgehog's Song

We were in the kitchen this evening when we could see our neighbours spending ages peering at the ground, and making general noises of wonderment.  Naturally, we were very curious and tried very hard to creep up on them discreetly to see what was going on.

K. gave herself away by falling through the fir tree so we thought we might as well just come out and ask what they were looking at.  Anyway, it turned out to be the tiniest hedgehog we have ever seen.  He was calm too, just chewing on a piece of apple our neighbour gave him.

K. gave him a tiny bit of cat food and he was delighted!  At least the way he snaffled it and tried to climb up the spoon, I think he was delighted, it's so hard to read the emotions of a hedgehog....

And, yes, I have given this a little antique treatment to hide the fact that his little snout was one big blur..........

We are trying to think of a good Croatian name for him, like Hrvoje or Dalibor.
