A Day Out With My Boy
No work for me today, but I was still up early as BB and I were heading into Edinburgh – first stop the dentist. In fact we had some time to kill before the dentist, so we watched a workman hanging over the top of the Jenners building, doing whatever he was doing! We both got a good report from the dentist and headed out into the sunshine. We had no plans for the day, but as it was turning into a nice day weather-wise, and it seems a while since I was outside on a bright day, we went for a wander. We walked down to Dean Village and then to Dean cemetery where we had a look around – or at least I did. Next we wandered over to the Gallery of Modern Art, where we both enjoyed the Bridget Riley exhibition. We were less taken with the Karla Black exhibition which involved a lot of cotton wool and polythene. I thought that a visit to the Joan Eardley exhibition would then have been pushing my luck too far with BB.
BB had been complaining of being hungry almost as soon as we came out of the dentists, so once he had had a reasonable dose of culture we descended to the Water of Leith walkway, and walked to Stockbridge where pizza was requested. We had a lovely lunch, and then walked a bit further along the walkway to the Botanic Gardens. BB wasn’t so keen, but in the end thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the glasshouses. And guess what, once we had done that, he was hungry again so the next stop was the café for a cake and a hot chocolate. I ordered nothing, but he let me share his cake!
We walked back to Princes Street, where BB had a trip to the Jenners toy department in mind – but alas it was closed (just the toy dept), for refurbishment. He was more than a little disappointed, as he had Lego on his mind!
We then headed for the train home, and guess what he was hungry and in need of his tea. We have had a quiet evening. TT is playing football and BB is weary.
After a few days where I have struggled for a blip – I have lots to choose from today. Here is BB walking round the Charles Jencks’ landform. The extras show the Jenners’ workman and something rather lovely which was spotted in a glass house at eh Botanics.
