Light at the end of the tunnel?

What a lovely bunch (56) folk that we went walking with today.
The Churton Park Community Walkers have 4 groups, and all of them are OK with small stuffed dogs. The Boss and ME went in the second group  “Steady Steppers” for their annual Tunnel Gulley Devonshire Tea walk where you got to chose, in advance, the type of scone, the type of jam and your favourite drink, even before you started. 
This was in the Rimutaka area that The Boss had never been in and that was another treat. We will return.

Nestled at the foot of Mount Climie (830 m) north of Upper Hutt, Tunnel Gully Recreation Area is popular for picnics, mountain biking and walking through the remnant native bush. There is plenty of parking, and flush toilets are provided.
Named for its link with the historic Rimutaka Railway between Wellington and the Wairarapa, Tunnel Gully features the 253m long Mangaroa Tunnel, built between 1875 and 1877. The tunnel’s working life ended in November 1955 when the new Rimutaka Tunnel was opened.  Tunnel Gully is now a popular spot for walking and tramping, mountain biking, and picnicking.

The Boss delighted the nice lady he was walking with by using his iPhone as a torch so they could see where they were putting their feet. Golly it was as dark as a black Lab at midnight in a coal mine….almost.

The Boss now has this great app on his iphone that tells you when the next bus is coming from any bus stop in the Wellington area and more advice then he can remember on where to go walking from members of the group.
