Tarapunga, by Paul Walsh (2017)
On the footpath beside what was once the Grey Lynn branch of the Auckland Savings Bank is this telecommunications box. Once a drab dark green, it has been decorated this year by the street artist, Paul Walsh. He has painted a red-billed gull (Tarapunga), which is a New Zealand native bird, and is regarded as threatened. I'm not sure why as there seem to be many about whenever I am by the sea.
As an aside, the very first of these boxes which I blipped has been repainted a drab dark green.
