kangaroo paw

After all the excitement of the last couple of days it was back to the hills and a long morning walk with A.
The bush is changing on a daily basis and today discovered this red and green kangaroo paw, still in bud before it unfolds. The floral emblem of Western Australia and though cultivated and a great garden pant, it is only found growing naturally in WA, so it is such a thrill to see one growing amongst the eucalypts and grass trees.
